Cruising to a New You!
Here’s a “blog” I put up on the body for life guestbook today. I think it is important enough to run it here as well!
If you’ve been around the guestbook for any time you’ve no doubt seen some of my blogs about how important it is for you to become part of the fitness community that is involved with Body for Life. Without a sense of community, you are like a coal drawn out of the fire, and you slowly but surely will burn out instead of being in the community, where the energy that you have–just like a coal in the fire–will contribute to a warm and lasting experience. Community is not a replacement for family, but it is a place where you will keep your hope, enthusiasm and knowledge all going. This guestbook is one part of that community, as are area and regional meetings. But did you also know that there are community wide events as well?
Jerry Braam, a 2001 champion, puts together cruise events, and you can find the link to his cruise site at the “events” page of this website, just by clicking on the link on the left of this page that says “Events.” Though the date is for last year’s cruise, the info on the website that it will take you to is up to date. The cruise is 7 days and it is a Carribean cruise from Sept 27 to Oct 4. I was on the one last year and might be at the next one as well. (You can see a clip of my presentation on my website, www.mikeharris.org) BUT, the person you might REALLY want to visit with and get your picture taken with will be there as well–none other than BIll Phillips! He of course is the creator of the Body for Life program and the author of the original book and the Eating for Life book as well. The thing I found most fascinating about the cruise was the large number of international body for lifers. There were people from England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Alaska, and all other faraway parts of the world last year, and I’m sure many of them will be back again. If you’re even the slightest interested, go to the link and take a look at the website.
I know what “some of you” are thinking–-”there’s no way I’m going to look good in a swimsuit by then” or “a cruise is way too much for my budget right now,” but the truth is that a cruise these days is a real bargain, less than $100 a day for your cabin and meals and much of the entertainment. It is a lot of fun, and the BFL group always put together a great package of freebies for you as well. We came home with cool t shirts, beach towels, and lots of other stuff from a goody bag, and we more importantly we came home with lots of friends we met on the cruise.
Check it out!
